Facilitating self-discovery for therapeutic change and growth.

* Hello, and welcome. I am Elizabeth (Lizzie) Holt.

* Hello, and welcome. I am Elizabeth (Lizzie) Holt.

I’m a BACP accredited counsellor, EMDR psychotherapist, Clinical Supervisor, and a Breathworks accredited Mindfulness Teacher dedicated to supporting individuals to cultivate kindness, balance and equanimity in their personal and professional lives.

During challenging periods in life, many people seek extra support outside of their usual networks of friends and family, and there may be many reasons why a person enters counselling.

Whatever your reasons for seeking psychological support, finding the right therapist is an important step. To help you with that, I offer a complimentary initial phone call where we can chat about your needs, explore how I might be able to support you, and answer any questions you may have. There’s absolutely no pressure to work with me after our call – what matters most is that you feel well-informed and confident in your choice.

I’m here to help, so please don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions. I’d be happy to chat with you.

Overview of Services

Over the years that I’ve been working as a Psychotherapist, Clinical Supervisor and Mindfulness Teacher, I’ve fine-tuned my list of services to support clients in their journey towards healing and personal growth.

  • Through counselling, I aim to provide a safe, confidential space where you can openly explore your thoughts and feelings with a compassionate and non-judgmental listener.

  • With Eye Movement desensitisation and Reprocessing(EMDR) therapy, I can help you process and reduce the emotional impact of traumatic memories, allowing you to move forward with greater ease and less distress.

  • My clinical supervision services (a service only available to other therapists), offers professionals a supportive environment to reflect on their practice, gain new perspectives, and enhance their professional growth through a values-driven approach.

  • The 1:1 mindfulness sessions that I facilitate provide personalised guidance in meditative practices, which can help you to cultivate awareness, clarity, and calm to better manage life’s challenges.

  • "Lizzie has been my Clinical Supervisor since October 2022. I am a BACP Accredited Counsellor and Integrative Psychotherapist, working in private practice...She is reliable, flexible and understanding, providing a safe space to share problems, concerns, and authentic feelings in a warm and collaborative way. I very much appreciate Lizzie’s gentle and insightful way of exploring issues that arise in client work and how they may be impacting me or my practice. I highly recommend her."

  • "Having been a client of Lizzie's for a few years I have been continually impressed and could not recommend her highly enough. Her human focused approach to counselling has been eye opening and has helped me significantly. Lizzie provides a safe space to discuss and explore whatever thoughts or feelings present themselves and also offers tools and insight to help unpack and work through them. She is kind, thoughtful, supportive, authentic, engaged and extremely passionate about helping people. I truly appreciate the support she has given me over the years and have no hesitation in recommending her."

  • “[Lizzie’s] expertise, empathy, and unwavering support have been invaluable to my growth as a therapist… Her insightful feedback and encouragement are always tailored to my needs, helping me build both confidence and further develop my professional development as a therapist. I'm incredibly grateful for Lizzie's mentorship and highly recommend her to anyone seeking a dedicated and compassionate clinical supervisor.”

    Lucy MBACP (Accred)

  • "I initially came to see [Lizzie] to get some help with specific issues related to depression and anxiety, but she has expertly supported me through many challenges along the way... and guided me through career challenges. She is exceptionally compassionate and patient and very intuitive... very good at untangling and making sense of lots of complex, conflicting emotions and issues and helping me to see a clearer picture. She's non-judgemental and offers practical emotional support and guidance but helps me hold myself accountable...Life is never perfect but having the routine and structure that we've built together has equipped me to overcome issues that I worry might have been significantly more problematic had we not been working together. FAQs

  • We’ll discuss what has brought you to seek Counselling/EMDR/Clinical Supervision/Mindfulness Coaching and what you are hoping to achieve or gain. We can discuss my approach and the way I work, if you wish. There will also be an opportunity to ask any questions you may have.

I see this  as a collaboration: working together and communicating openly and honestly with one another is an integral part of the process.

  • Payment can be made via bank transfer. The bank details will be emailed to you should you choose to make an appointment.

Please note: I do offer reduced rates for those on low-incomes. We discuss in more detail on our call.

  • Currently, I am using a platform called Zoom, for this is secure software recommended for use for therapeutic sessions by the BACP. I will send an email invitation, which will guide you through uploading the software to your tablet/phone or desktop/laptop computer.

  • I endeavour to reply to phone calls or emails within 24-hours, and I am not available outside normal office hours (9am -5pm). I respect clients’ privacy and the integrity of the counselling relationship, and its boundaries by not following or connecting on any social media platform.

  • I would recommend finding a private place where you are unlikely to be overheard or interrupted. Turn off other devices (such as phones, radio and the TV) to minimise distractions. Set up a space where you can sit comfortably for the duration of the session, preferably with your device supported hands-free and set up so that you remain clearly visible with adequate lighting and without needing to make any adjustments as we talk. It is helpful if you refrain from eating during the sessions. After the session ends, it can be important to take a little time to adjust back to the life around you. It might be worth planning a short walk or setting aside a little time to yourself after a session to reflect and reconnect gradually with other things.

  • The timings vary slightly, depending on the service you choose. Counselling sessions are 50-minutes; EMDR sessions are 90-minutes; Clinical Supervision 60/90 minutes depending on experience; and Mindfulness sessions are 50-minutes

  • A minimum of 24-hours notice is required for re-scheduling or cancelling an appointment. The full fee will be charged for sessions missed without such notice. If you need to cancel an appointment, please call my mobile or send me an email.

  • The content of our work together is confidential with a few exceptions. I regularly see a supervisor for confidential sessions, where we confidentially discuss my work to ensure I am working effectively and ethically. While I might discuss any issues arising from my work with client, this is shared in an anonymised way (no names or identifiable information is ever shared. In certain exceptional circumstances, if I felt you or others might be at risk of harm or in some legal circumstances, I might consider widening confidentiality; however, I would always endeavour to discuss this with you prior to taking any action.

  • I am able to see any client based in the UK. Before agreeing to work together, I would take into account your needs and my ability to meet those needs. If I feel undertrained or underqualified, I will do my best to signpost you to someone who will be more appropriate for you.

  • In times of mental health or psychological emergencies, dial 999; or, if possible, attend your local A&E Hospital to be seen by the Crisis Team. You may also wish to contact the Samaritans 24-hour helpline on 116 123.
