Empowering Change Through Compassionate Therapy and Mindfulness.

Hi, I’m Lizzie. I’m so glad you’re here.

In my practice, I offer confidential, therapeutic sessions to support and empower you to move through challenging emotions and life events, past and present. I work from an integrative approach and structure sessions to tailor-fit the individual that I am working with.

Training & Qualifications

My humanistic training supports my core belief that the therapeutic relationship is one of equality: a kind and compassionate balance within a safe, non-judgmental space where two people meet to cultivate for therapeutic change and growth. A good counsellor is a facilitator for subtle inquiry and possibly self-discovery, and the therapeutic relationship in its essence offers the individual space to engage with themselves fully and move towards a more fulfilled and authentic way of being with support from their therapist.

I am a BACP accredited counsellor, clinical supervisor, mindfulness teacher, and academic. Since becoming a member of the BACP in 2014, I have worked in schools and universities, non-profit organisations, and have been a counselling manager in the private sector (EAP).

I currently work in private practice and lecture at a university in Greater Manchester.  In 2019, I was a supervisor with the BACP as part of a pilot scheme, where I supervised pastoral and safeguarding leads in Further Education (FE) Colleges, and I currently work as a trainer for the BACP delivering supervision training to professionals working within FE colleges.  Alongside my work, I am currently completing a Doctorate in Psychological Trauma.

Qualifications :

  • Currently completing a Doctorate in Psychological Trauma at The University of Chester

  • Master of Science (MSc) in Advanced Counselling and Psychotherapy Studies (with Distinction). The University of Salford

  • Postgraduate Certificate in Supervision in Counselling, Psychotherapy and Helping Relationships. The University of Salford

  • Breathworks Accredited Mindfulness Teacher.

  • Level 5 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling. The Manchester College

  • Level 4 Certificate in Children’s Counselling. Place2Be

  • Level 3 Counselling Skills. The Manchester College

  • BTEC Diploma in Health and Social Care. Lincoln College.

I support and look to empower individuals through compassionate, confidential therapy. I aim to create a safe, non-judgmental space where you can explore and move through life’s challenges. With an integrative approach and a belief in the power of the therapeutic relationship, I guide you towards self-discovery, growth, and a more authentic, fulfilling life. Through tailored sessions, mindfulness, and a focus on equality, I aim to facilitate meaningful change in your journey towards well-being.

  • "I initially came to see [Lizzie] to get some help with specific issues related to depression and anxiety, but she has expertly supported me through many challenges along the way... and guided me through career challenges. She is exceptionally compassionate and patient and very intuitive... very good at untangling and making sense of lots of complex, conflicting emotions and issues and helping me to see a clearer picture. She's non-judgemental and offers practical emotional support and guidance but helps me hold myself accountable...Life is never perfect but having the routine and structure that we've built together has equipped me to overcome issues that I worry might have been significantly more problematic had we not been working together. FAQs

  • We’ll discuss what has brought you to seek Counselling/EMDR/Clinical Supervision/Mindfulness Coaching and what you are hoping to achieve or gain. We can discuss my approach and the way I work, if you wish. There will also be an opportunity to ask any questions you may have.

I see this  as a collaboration: working together and communicating openly and honestly with one another is an integral part of the process.

  • Payment can be made via bank transfer. The bank details will be emailed to you should you choose to make an appointment.

Please note: I do offer reduced rates for those on low-incomes. We discuss in more detail on our call.

  • Currently, I am using a platform called Zoom, for this is secure software recommended for use for therapeutic sessions by the BACP. I will send an email invitation, which will guide you through uploading the software to your tablet/phone or desktop/laptop computer.

  • I endeavour to reply to phone calls or emails within 24-hours, and I am not available outside normal office hours (9am -5pm). I respect clients’ privacy and the integrity of the counselling relationship, and its boundaries by not following or connecting on any social media platform.

  • I would recommend finding a private place where you are unlikely to be overheard or interrupted. Turn off other devices (such as phones, radio and the TV) to minimise distractions. Set up a space where you can sit comfortably for the duration of the session, preferably with your device supported hands-free and set up so that you remain clearly visible with adequate lighting and without needing to make any adjustments as we talk. It is helpful if you refrain from eating during the sessions. After the session ends, it can be important to take a little time to adjust back to the life around you. It might be worth planning a short walk or setting aside a little time to yourself after a session to reflect and reconnect gradually with other things.

  • The timings vary slightly, depending on the service you choose. Counselling sessions are 50-minutes; EMDR sessions are 90-minutes; Clinical Supervision 60/90 minutes depending on experience; and Mindfulness sessions are 50-minutes

  • A minimum of 24-hours notice is required for re-scheduling or cancelling an appointment. The full fee will be charged for sessions missed without such notice. If you need to cancel an appointment, please call my mobile or send me an email.

  • The content of our work together is confidential with a few exceptions. I regularly see a supervisor for confidential sessions, where we confidentially discuss my work to ensure I am working effectively and ethically. While I might discuss any issues arising from my work with client, this is shared in an anonymised way (no names or identifiable information is ever shared. In certain exceptional circumstances, if I felt you or others might be at risk of harm or in some legal circumstances, I might consider widening confidentiality; however, I would always endeavour to discuss this with you prior to taking any action.

  • I am able to see any client based in the UK. Before agreeing to work together, I would take into account your needs and my ability to meet those needs. If I feel undertrained or underqualified, I will do my best to signpost you to someone who will be more appropriate for you.

  • In times of mental health or psychological emergencies, dial 999; or, if possible, attend your local A&E Hospital to be seen by the Crisis Team. You may also wish to contact the Samaritans 24-hour helpline on 116 123.
